Bryan Illsley ’s diverse practice includes painting, ceramic sculpture, metal sculpture, and jewellery. He employs colour, texture, form and structure to produce intense and abstract work. Illsley was born in 1937, and studied at Kingston School of Art. In 1963, he moved to St Ives and worked at the Bernard Leach Pottery, and in 1967 established a partnership with Breon O'Casey, making studio jewellery. He has exhibited widely throughout the UK and his work can be found in a number of prestigious private and public collections.
