MAISIE BROADHEAD
Maisie Broadhead (b.1980) graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2009 with an MA in Goldsmithing, Silvermithing, Metalwork and Jewellery. It was here that she began to explore the two dimensional representation of the objects she made, creating photographs in which friends, family and tutors re-enacted old master paintings where the action centered around the jewellery depicted. Broadhead expanded upon this series in her first UK solo show, which took place at Sarah Myerscough Fine Art in November 2010. Her work has since been exhibited in numerous exhibitions, including ‘Memoranda’at the Crafts Study Centre, Farnham in Autumn 2011, and ‘Taking the Chair’, a collaboration with Caroline Broadhead at Marsden Woo Gallery in September/October 2011, in which the mother and daughter duo created a strikingly personal, subtly humourous exploration into the endurance and importance of the family.
